👥 Caretakers

Artemia & Dino

📞 +52 1 984 108 5470  |  đź’¬ WhatsApp

They’re fantastic and can help with anything related to the house.

Gratuity: Please tip USD $50 per room, per week at the end of your stay.

đź›’ Groceries

  • CancĂşn: Costco (not on the way to Akumal)
  • Playa del Carmen: Sam’s Club, Walmart
  • Puerto Aventuras & Tulum: Chedraui (we prefer Puerto Aventuras)
  • Akumal: Small store by the Luncheria (convenient but pricey); several mini convenience stores in Akumal Pueblo (west side of the highway) for snacks.

⚠️ Security tip: If you stop for groceries on the way from the airport, have someone stay with the car. Luggage in view can attract opportunistic theft.

🛡️ General Safety

We feel very safe in this area—just stay street smart:

  • Always lock doors/windows and use the in-room safes.
  • Keep valuables secured when you’re out.
  • Very occasionally, houses along this beach have been targeted around dinnertime for quick-grab items (cash, laptops, phones).

Extra precautions at Casa Tranquila:

  • Full-time caretakers on site
  • Safes available
  • Optional night guard from 5/6 pm–11 pm on request (small additional fee)

Note: Since adding these measures, we’ve had no break-ins. Relax and enjoy—just don’t get complacent.

đźš— Rental Cars

You have two options:

1) Private Driver / Car (Recommended Contact)

Alberto Zapien
đź’¬ WhatsApp: +52 1 998 153 7766

  • Curbside airport pick-up & drop-off.
  • You are effectively borrowing his car/van and paying cash; he is not a registered rental agency.
  • In our long experience, guests have not had issues (including one minor accident handled smoothly); still, choose only if you’re comfortable with this arrangement—we’re simply sharing the option.
  • Mention “Señor Ryan Gibbons”—he’ll take great care of you.
  • Tip: USD $20 per car is customary.

2) Major Agencies (at CancĂşn Airport)

  • Well-known brands available on and off site at the airport.
  • Strongly recommended: Purchase comprehensive insurance, even if you believe you’re covered by a U.S. policy or credit card.
